Last week, Prof. Alexander Konnov from the Department of Physics, Lund University, together with Jundie Chen, presented their latest research at Nordic Flame Days 2025, held in Copenhagen, Denmark. Their work, titled “The Laminar Burning Velocity of NH₃ + N₂O + H₂O Mixtures and Kinetic Modelling,” explored the fundamental properties of ammonia-based combustion systems and contributed to the broader understanding of alternative fuel behavior.
The Nordic Flame Days conference is a leading event focused on combustion science, with particular emphasis on combustion kinetics, flame dynamics, and the development of sustainable fuel conversion systems. This year’s edition highlighted the increasing interest in ammonia as a clean and flexible thermal fuel, with discussions on its potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support the transition to low-carbon energy systems.
Prof. Konnov and Chen’s presentation provided valuable insights into laminar burning velocities and kinetic modeling, helping to improve predictive tools for ammonia combustion and informing future research on safe and efficient fuel applications. Their work contributes to ongoing efforts to develop sustainable and reliable alternative fuel technologies for industrial and energy applications.
